🌊 Epic Day at Te Kohanga Bay: Surfing, Safety & Family Fun

From sunrise surf safety lessons to frothing on our boards and throwing out some serious mana waves 🤙🏽, the Ahipara Boardriders September Day at Te Kohanga Bay was absolutely epic!

We were stoked to see new families join in, bringing fresh energy to our surf community. The tamariki had a blast riding waves, building sand couches, and even sending ✈️ paper planes soaring across the sand. A special shout-out to the crew from Taipa who joined us — because surfing is never just about the waves, it’s about connection, laughter, and whānau vibes.

Fuel is always key on big surf days, and our community kai didn’t disappoint. Sizzling hot bangers in bread, fresh fruit, and plenty of water 💧 kept everyone powered up for fun in the Northland sun. There’s something special about good food, good waves, and good mates.

Massive thanks to Sport Northland for supplying epic new boards for our tamariki, and to Surfing NZ for kitting us out with wetsuits — perfect for those who dropped in and joined the fun on the spot.
