We’re a crew of locals passionate about creating a safe, fun, and supportive surfing community here in Tai Tokerau. Whether you’re a family, an individual, or a young grom/rangatahi eager to learn about surfing and water safety — or you’re looking to step up and compete in local or regional comps — there’s a place for you at Ahipara Boardriders.

Throughout the year, we host a variety of events: from competitive surf meets to chilled-out whānau days where everyone’s welcome (even if you’re just there to cheer from the sand). Our mission is simple: foster a love for surfing, grow confidence in the water, and build stronger community connections.

We love sharing our slice of paradise with you, but ask that everyone helps us keep it pristine — respect the moana, take care in the water, and always leave the beach better than you found it.

Founded in 2019 by our passionate leaders, President Daniel Bird and Vice President Liam Morrogh, together with our dedicated committee, Ahipara Boardriders is here to grow surfing in the Far North and welcome more people into the stoke.
